Summer is usually very beautiful, but it is worth mentioning the lovely Tarn countryside in Autumn, when under an almost continous sun, the trees and valleys have such a rich mix of colours.

Very diverse, the different areas of the plain, the many different rivers, lakes and water-based leisure areas, contain a wealth of old villages, castles, churches and interesting museums. The Tarn enjoys its well-eaned reputation of being a place to stay for people requiring peace and quiet in the middle of beautiful countryside.

	A very important town in the Middle Ages, it survived intact, the Albigensian wars and its high ramparts and red brick reflect across the clear waters of the River Tarn. The Notre Dame du Bourg church is one of the most prestigious monuments in the Albi area : being the first church to be built in the Gothic style in the region. Situated on the route to Santiago di Compostello, the town is proud of its rich Jacquerie heritage. The Rabastens Museum located in the Hotel de la Fite (17th century building) conatins a large collection of archeological artefacts and a rich history of the local area.
